PERMITS

Fishing permits are available in store from James Bayne fishing tackle in Callander. Trout & char fishing permit from the 15th of March to the 6th of October. Coarse permit for pike is from the 1st of January to the 31st of March, and the1st of May to the 31st of December. Perch and roach fishing is from the 15th of March to the 31st of October and from the 1st of May to the 6th October.

PERMITS ARE ISSUED TO NAMED INDIVIDUALS, IF PART OF A PARTY, THEN EACH MEMBER REQUIRES A PERMIT. IT IS ILLEGAL TO FISH WITHOUT OBTAINING WRITTEN PERMISSION IE. A PERMIT

The area covered by these permits, are marked on the map, on the reverse side of the ticket, and broadly described as follows:

The surface of loch Tay and the shoreline, from Lawers burn on the north shore, and the manse burn on the south shore, to the west end of the loch. The river lochay from the junction of the dochart, up stream to the head waters. The river dochart from the junction up stream to the alteally burn. lochan-na-Larig is also included. There are sections of the shore line and parts of the river bank which are excluded to anglers and marked on the map. These areas are shown by a single line line on the map and are clearly defined by by fence or walls and notices.

GAME FISHING METHODS ALLOWED

One rod only which must be hand held. The river Lochay, all hill Lochs and dams and the surface of loch Tay by boat is fly only. The river dochart and the shore line of loch Tay is all legal methods.

COARSE FISHING METHODS ALLOWED

Bank fishing for perch and roach are fly,bait,or lure using a maximum 6 lbs breaking strain and one rod, with float; and/or a rod rest which may be used and a suitable bite indicator recommended.

Bank fishing for pike by fly one rod with wire trace, 450mm minimum and minimum of 15 lb breaking strain. Spinning as for fly but trace minimum 300mm. Dead bait up to 4 rods with stands and bite indicators , minimum breaking strain 20lbs with wire trace 450mm minimum. Dead bait must be of marine species or pre-packed from reputable suppliers. Barbless or semi barbless hooks to be used.

When boat fishing, the boat must be at anchor, suitable rod rest used and float recommended. Proper unhooking equipment, mat, landing net and weighing sling required, dependant on species.

PROHIBITED

Deliberate trolling, the use of live bait,diving minnow,over night camping with out permission, fires and BBQS and the leaving of litter. Park with care and do not damage any trees etc and use recognised routes to the water side.

It is an offense to fish without a permit,a permit must be produced when requested by a warden or bailiff,
failure to do so will result in a report being made under the criminal procedures within the 2008 act.
